Offering Ten Total Weeks of Competition Between Two Circuits – Prize List Available Online!

Parker, CO – May 13, 2019 – The Colorado Horse Park (CHP) will welcome back the annual Spring & Summer in the Rockies Series (SIR) to the venue, featuring top competition opportunities for hunter, jumper, and equitation competitors in the mid-west. The Spring in the Rockies Series, which saw a tremendous increase in entries in 2018, will host three weeks of competition, beginning Wednesday, May 8, and continue through May 26, before the start of the iconic Summer in the Rockies Series on Wednesday, June 5. “We’re incredibly excited to have competitors back at CHP for the spring and summer circuits we’re offering this season,” said Marion Maybank, Show Manager & Director of Operations for CHP. “We saw a major increase in entries for the Spring Series last year and have made some changes in prize money for the Summer in the Rockies Series that will be great additions to the schedule. We’ve added a weekly Welcome Grand Prix and have added some Young Horse classes, so we’re anticipating a very competitive string of shows at the venue this year.”
The Spring in the Rockies Series will host a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby competition during each of the three weeks of competition, as well as weekly $10,000 Welcome Stake classes on Thursdays and 25,000 Grand Prix classes on Saturdays for competitors wanting to familiarize themselves with the venue before the start of the SIR. All jumper classes during Spring in the Rockies have been rated as USEF Level 4 competitions.
New to the 2019 Summer in the Rockies season, a weekly $25,000 Welcome Grand Prix will also be offered for jumper competitors, in addition to the weekly Grand Prix class hosted each Saturday. Several $2,500 1.35m and 1.40m Jumper classes will also be part of the weekly schedule.
The iconic circuit will begin on June 5 with SIR I, hosting Premier Hunter and USEF 5* Jumper classes and will feature a $25,000 Triple Crown Nutrition Welcome Grand Prix and the $35,000 Lactanase Grand Prix on Saturday, June 8. A $5,000 Griffis Residential High Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic, $5,000 Medium Junior/Amateur Owner Classic, will take place on Sunday, June 9, as well as a $5,000 Vita Flex NAL Low Junior/Amateur Owner Classic. A $4,000 Voltaire Modified Junior/Amateur Owner Classic are scheduled to be offered, as well as a $4,000 NAL WIHS Children’s Jumper Classic, and a $4,000 NAL/WIHS Adult Jumper Classic. A $2,000 Holiday Inn Parker Low Child Jumper Classic, $2,000 Holiday Inn Parker Low Adult Jumper Classic, and $2,000 Front Range Kubota Modified Child/Adult Jumper Classic will be hosted weekly throughout the series. For hunter riders, a Pre-Adult Hunter Classic, 3’3”/3’6” Amateur Owner Hunter Classic, 3’3”/3’6” Junior Hunter Classic, and Pony Hunter Classic will also be offered weekly.
The circuit continues with SIR II the following week (June 12-16) and will host the $25,000 Marshall & Sterling Welcome Grand Prix, as well as the $35,000 Grand Prix, alongside Premier Hunter classes and USEF 5* jumper classes. A $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby will take place on Friday, June 14, in the Olson Family Arena.
SIR III (June 19-23) welcomes World Championship Hunter Rider Week (WCHR) offering the opportunity to collect valuable WCHR points for hunter competitors. The $25,000 Osphos® Welcome Grand Prix will kick-off elite jumper competition, while the $35,000 Holiday Inn Grand Prix presented by Trapper’s Chop House will take place on Saturday, June 24. The first $20,000 Voltaire Under 25 Grand Prix will also be hosted on Saturday in the International Ring.
The fourth week of the SIR circuit will begin on June 26 and continue through June 30, offering the first increase in Grand Prix prize money for jumper competitors, hosting the $60,000 Griffis Residential Grand Prix, alongside the first week of USEF 6* jumper classes. The $25,000 Littleton Equine Medical Center Welcome Grand Prix will precede the main class of the week, while a $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby will accompany hunter competition during the week in the Olson Family Arena on Friday, June 28.
SIR V (July 3-7) will welcome another week of Premier Hunter competition, alongside USEF 6* jumper classes and welcome the $25,000 Carolina Arena Equipment Welcome Grand Prix. The $80,000 Front Range Kubota Grand Prix will serve as the highlight jumper class of the week and the venue will host the second WCHR week of the 2019 season. The second $20,000 Voltaire Under 25 Grand Prix of the season will be hosted on Saturday, July 6. SIR V will host the first $10,000 SJHOF High Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic presented by Griffis Residential.
SIR VI (July 10-14) will welcome the $25,000 Adequan® Welome Grand Prix, prior to the $100,000 Adequan® Grand Prix, which is the largest Grand Prix class hosted during the season at CHP. A $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby will be offered to hunter competitors, while the second $10,000 SJHOF Junior/Amateur Owner Classic presented by Griffis Residential will take place.
The 2019 SIR will conclude with SIR VII, hosted from July 17-21, and will welcome the final competition week at the venue for the circuit. A $25,000 Horseware Ireland® Welcome Grand Prix will be hosted in the International Ring on Thursday, July 18, followed by the highlight a $35,000 Horseware Ireland® Grand Prix on Saturday, July 20. The final week of the series offers the last opportunity for competitors to contest the $10,000 SJHOF Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic presented by Griffis Residential.
